and dont forget that there will soon be no such thing as council tax benefit and councils will get to decide how much individuals will have to contribute - only one council afaik has decided to swallow the reduction themselves and therefore cover all those currently on benefits.

As for the bedroom tax thing.. many tenancy agreements do not allow subletting, the cost of relocating is prohibitively expensive, letting privately offers little in the way of long term security and rents are extortionate - add to that the inevitable shit storm that will come with the changing over from benefits to universal credit and the no doubt delays in payment it will cause I feel for anyone reliant on benefits.
Sometimes, if you stand on the bottom rail of a bridge and lean over to watch the river slipping slowly away beneath you, you will suddenly know everything there is to be known.

Just listened to a piece on the BBC which stated that foster parents who take in children won't be exempted from this either.
If a family is seperated or divorced, only one parent will be entitled to the exemption.

So we end up with potential foster parents who are punished for caring and responsible parents who can't afford to have their kids stay.
What the actual fuck!?

These fucks are making Thatcher look like Bevan.

Clever.

There'll also be lots of people on the streets I'd wager...I was thinking about a career change today and I thought If they actually paid people to work with homeless folks I'd be in guaranteed work for a good long while.

@ feather...you almost sound like you miss the old bastard. :D

 That woman fucking annoys me in so many ways.
First off, I have no hesitation in placing the blame for the situation today at her and fucking Ronald Raygun's door.
It was those two fucks who let loose the hounds of corporate greed, stripped joe blow of his rights and idolised complete cunts like Pinochet. "Ach so he disappeared a few fuckers and tossed some out of planes etc but he did wonders with the Chilean economy so it's all good"

But now she annoys me again because I see a confused as fuck old woman with senile dementia. She has no fucking clue which shoe goes on which foot and the compassionate dickhead in me says "You can't hold this old crone responsible for what her alter-ego did back then. She probably couldn't pick herself out in a video line-up".

So fuck you Thatcher, Fuck you in so many ways!!

Also fuck senile dementia.
Not only is it a nasty-assed illness, it allows nasty bastards like the ones above to 'forget' what they did to so many others.

I believe there will always be a part of 'her' that is aware of the role she has played in the lives of so many others, feather. That's how it works...even with dementia and even when you've slipped off this mortal coil.

Some even call it 'destiny', but I'm not sure I'd go that far. Where does 'destiny' end and just plain 'being a cunt' begin? The choice is entirely the individual's at every step of the way.

Yeah and we already know that's running into big problems - and it's all going to be online! And so however poor you are, you need access to a computer...well try your local library...whoops! That's shut down due to cuts.

There are signs appearing all over the place that people are finally starting to wake up over this bedroom tax.

As far as I can tell, this picture about a large turnout for a bedroom tax protest in Bootle is genuine:

The following day, IDS paid a secret visit to Bolton. Some trade unionists were tipped off and started an impromptu protest following IDS and heckling him. But better still is that members of the general public joined in when they realised who it was. :chuckle:

There are grassroots organisations springing up all over the place to resist the bedroom tax. This is exactly how the resistance to the poll tax started. I'm feeling more optimistic about a fightback than I have done for quite a while. :)
