That's what we want to hear. :)

I hope they don't think bank tellers are to blame though. :(

They'd have to be really thick to have that impression.

Well if they're thinking of driving bulldozers through the banks, it's not going to be the 'bankers' that get hurt. They'll be nowhere near. But the ordinary bank staff will be right in the firing line, facing everyone's wrath. It'll be a pleasant surprise to me if some don't get hurt.

lol thats a lesson they'll have to learn for themselves.
If they're forced to co-operate with other people to survive then it might just happen.

I wouldn't want to be working in a bank over there at the moment. Angry people are liable to do foolish things.

Just seen another clip on the news...there were a lot of people out on the streets today....placards with the EU flag turned into a swastika.

Unfortunately it's what happens though.
The counter staff are the ones the crowd can get at.
They'll be seen as the gatekeepers to their cash.

I'd be surprised if no-one gets hurt or killed over this. :(

My Dad did peacekeeping duties in Palestine during his national service, that worked out well.
Still, it has as much relevance to this thread as your anecdote.

The run in Cyprus has started....Just watched RT news....Russia is a heavy investor in the Cypriot banking sector....they are already withdrawing moneys. So answer me this, big Russian companies can and are able to access their moneys and are moving it to "other parts of the world", so how come they can and Joe public can't? Apparently China and Japan are also heavy investors and they are already making noises about removing their 'cash'.

Also, if the billions that are invested are removed....there wont be enough left surely to give Cyprus the levarage it needs to secure its next bailout?....game over?

PS...can't wait for Keiser report...tomorrow 7.30am! Just before the banks open....

They're not meant to be able to do any international transactions or even local at the moment with closed banks so thats a mystery jane.

21.48 Cyprus state TV reports that revised deposit tax would exempt savers with deposits under €20,000.

20.38 The EuroGroup has released an official statement. It recommends that Cyprus eases terms on small depositors, reaffirms the importance of deposit guarantees under €100,000, maintains that Cyprus must stick to the €5.8bn goal and asserts that the deposit levy is "one off" measure.

20.24 The EuroGroup has decided to give Cyprus more flexibility over the bank levy, a Greek finance ministry source has told Reuters.

The EuroGroup has agreed that depositors with less than €100,000 should be protected, the official said.

Very stupid that they didn't present the one time levy this way in this first place, the stupidity of professionals never fails to surprise.

Not enough support for the vote and 20,000 announced in state news and 100,000 guarantee to be supposedly supported wtf?

I still have RT on Pheony....when I posted they had a longer segment about it and they were interviewing a Russian finance guy. The section you saw was a shorter version....or maybe they read my post and withdrew that part for fear that it would inflame Joe Cyprus even more! :D

Russians to Withdraw Billions from Cyprus

Russians are preparing to withdraw billions of euros from Cyprus and the island will plunge into decades of recession because of the onerous terms of a EU bailout, economists say.
