I'm not having a go at Lightgiver, in fact I enjoy his posts, but I have always wondered why he illustrates every post with pictures and videos. Most people just get away with a reply including a few words and a smiley.. Not a criticism, just wondering.

As to the whole economic crisis. Andy seems to think that Australia is the safest financial place on the planet, yet I imagine when America finally goes under (big style) the whole world will.

I have no answers. I will continue to stick my fingers in my ears until the whole thing goes pop.

You're right, nowhere is going to be 'safe' as such.
There is merely tougher places to be and easier, that is all.

Your common sense and investigation should lead you to the right conclusions, each location has advantages and disadvantages and these will be variable according to the person concerned.

For example, a single male with particular skills will be more suited to a certain location than a married male with certain skills and kids he has to support.

A lot is going to boil down to immediate expendable income he/she has, dependants and language skills.

Seeing as jhado is going to have 50k spare, then investing in changing life for the better is the right option rather than buying gold or leaving it in a bank or staying with the way things are at the moment.

There is also NZ, Tasmania, Ireland, Canada and perhaps Iceland to look at if languages are a problem, precise choice will depend on skills and long term goals.

The UK however is a dead end shithole, very few would disagree. If you have no lump sum to move with and no skills to offer then you're obviously not going to move, perhaps within the UK but even thats going to be a struggle.
I've been through it so I can understand. I've only moved to Ireland as I had a wife and kids to feed and they needed a place where we could thrive and the kids wouldn't be too put out by the change.
This is the way it works, consider each scenario and whatever suits.

You are quite correct to state that this whole business started in the US and it will end with it, as and when the dollar is no longer the world reserve currency then the US is well and truly 'fcuked'. It is in debt way above and beyond what is possible to sustain without having reserve currency status.

W is the 23rd letter in the ISO basic Latin alphabet...

U is the 21 in the ISO basic Latin alphabet and a vowel in the English alphabet. Symbol 'U' is the chemical symbol for uranium...

B is the 2nd letter in the ISO basic Latin alphabet...Spellcasting is considered by its user to invoke some magical effect...like when you spell a word..all words have power whether it be for good or bad and can raise or lower vibrations...if you catch my drift...

I'm in debt, a shitload. But not because I borrowed money I couldn't pay back.... but because I refused to pay the council tax. :hide:

Is that because you disagree with it or unable to afford it ?

The Poll Tax Riots were a series of riots in British towns and cities during protests against the Community Charge (commonly known as the poll tax), introduced by the Conservative government led by Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher.

The Community Charge poll tax was replaced by Council Tax in 1993, two years after its abolition was announced...

Disagreed originally. Started back when it was still poll tax. Then it just got out of hand. Now it's ridiculous and one day I shall pay for my sins.

If you are unable to pay it due to lack of income, there is not a lot they (the council) can do about it...

The big question, though, which councils privately concede they can’t answer, is: what happens if some of these people decide they can’t – or won’t – pay?
