Was speaking to a mate who goes to a spiritualist church the other day. Anyway Im having financial trouble renovating a house. I took on a bigger project than i could handle,so spending my time away from work ,working on my house. Its going to take about two years .I bought the house very cheap a 3 story house .

Getting back to the healing i was speaking to a mate who had another mate in tow. This mate mate offered me an appointment to go and see Brother sean who lives down the road and with prayer i would find it easier to do my house up. Anyway this Brother Sean charges £75 an hour for healing and prayers which i found very comical.

Ive decided to give this brother sean a miss and spend the money on the house instead .

I know we all need to make a wage but trying the sales pitch when your on your ass is a piss take.

Yes there is a whole industry of healing. The type of people in such industries could be great con men or maybe they actually offer something genuine. It is impossible for me to say though as I don't have $75.

I think sometimes healers just offer therapy of another kind that isn't magic or anything. They say the mind can be a powerful body healer so maybe belief is more important than anything.

This certain healer is on medication for bi-polar .I dont want to sound a hypocrit but should a healer be able to heal themselves first.

He also does DNA reprogramming what ever that means.

I was being broader not talking about him in particular. Although I would suggest that healing oneself is perhaps tougher than helping others. Again just a general point though, not specific to your guy.

I'm level 2 reiki, I've never charged for it. I do however charge for massage, the reiki is free whether I/they like it or not.

Do you really want to talk about the price or the practices?

Dismiss nowt until you've experienced it.

My first ever uni assignment was "Choose an alternative therapy and critique it", I chose reiki thinking "piece of piss". A year later I did my first degree and had a profound experience. The first person I tried it out on was Mrs oioioi, a very basic 3 position treatment. Anyway, long story short, I felt her heart racing at a rate that worried me, I opened my eyes and had never seen her look so serene so carried on with it. At the end she confirmed that her heart raced like she'd never experienced before in a resting state but also said she'd never felt more in control of a situation that would normally have her googling 'heart attack'.

My entire 3rd year was academic, I tried to steer every assignment towards placebo/nocebo. Without question EVERY form of health intervention relies on the 'patients' mind. This lead me to believe that with adequate training we can self cure anything that is already curable and I suspect a whole lot more!

I really know little about it all. I live in a place where you see signs about revivals etc and on the other hand I am going to new age shops then seeing traditional medicine. I don't know much about any of it but I am sure you are correct.

My wife literally worries herself sick, or has in the past, so it makes sense that it would work both ways. The healing industry is just an obvious response to a sick world.

That's the problem with the thread title, I consider G.P.s and pharma to be as much a part of the "healing industry" as anyone, I suspect that's not what Nirvana was implying.

Healing industry is an interesting term, most people would associate it with the medical industry and not with the spiritual community.

lots of people in the Spiritual community are money grabbing or have an agenda and exactly the same could be said of the medical industry.

healing industry is a good term because it encompases those trying to improve health in all communities and excludes those with another agenda.
