Stress is submertable if you put you mind to ......the key thing is you have to believe in yourself enough to overcome it.

Which is not always easy as it takes a lot of self belief, but smoking shit and drinking shit is not not going to solve anything

Exactly right!!! And that's what I was trying to get at!

Said she, lighting a ciggy & dumping last night's empty whisky bottle in the bin! :emb:

I tend to use the shamanic approach to things.

If meditation works for you, then that's fine too. Personally I find it boring without a "kicker" added to it.

As Hunter Thompson said, "I hate to advocate drugs, alcohol, violence, or insanity to anyone, but they've always worked for me."

Ditto for me.

Also,so that I can add a little tidbit to the topic. My thought s on "stress relief" have already been made known, however I have as of late begun using a natural remedy for sleep called Melatonin.

At first I kinda scoffed at it,the bottle says Take 1 at bedtime,so naturally I took three.

Slept like a baby and woke up feeling great the past few nights.

I would highly reccomend it for those of you with sleeping problems. All natural AND you can mix it with alcohol.

Cheers,

Doc

You mean take a nap :nite: lol

Meditation only works if your able to clear your mind. Did it every morning, along with yoga for a few years. First you have to be able to shut the mind up long enough to clear it and keep it clear.
Anyway... I'll talk to you guys later... gotta go strangle a child, bounce a pan off a dogs head, lock the cat up and play in the dirt.

When this happens I usually have an early night and cry myself to sleep. :emb: It does work though.

Everything seems better after a good night's sleep and crying releases endorphins. It's good to let it out. :)

Actually, this is how I usually deal with all stress.

Nope - a nap & a meditate are 2 different things.

It takes practice to clear a chattering mind, that's all.

Very few 'people' tell you how to stop the chatter mind ........most things are geared towards people taking cannabis or alchocol to convince them they cant do it on their own

It's heartbreaking in a way because stress and anything else can be combated if you just listen to yourself , but realising that might take a journey into Strangeville........well it di for me :emb:

You don't let yourself get irritated by the chattering voice - just when you become aware of it, acknowledge it, and let it drift away, every time, and it gets easier & quieter as you do it.

I really don't like cannabis. I tried it when I was younger and it made more anxious.

Smoked so much for so long that it's the only thing I know. It's part of me and has been for a very long time.

aint saying its an everyday thing but to me doc's coma therapy isnt as mad as it sounds...
mushrooms. there are many ways of approaching the humble mushroom. many choose to dose small, head of to the pub, get into the jukebox and laugh at their total inability to play pool. a few choose to take massive, totally paralysing doses and 100% commit to the communion. those that do know why.
its not the only way in for sure but when you get to that place where "infinite love is the only reality..." it does rather give you a different perspective on the illusions we create and slave ourselves to in daily life.

some might say its a shortcut, a cheat or the easy way, i'd say it's just not for everyone but a shamanic approach to entheogens, although not without its own 'stresses', is of.benefit to this topic imho.

I wholeheartedly agree. I couldn't have put it so succinctly if I tried. :)

agreed. gilly put it superbly.
stress/tension, a major source is attachment. attachment to things, life styles, sense of self etc. letting go of those attachments, however you do it, yields results. this ties in with the idea of letting go of mind chatter.
i go so far as to suggest that letting go is the way to genius. the great inventors, researchers, artists etc all seem to get it. let it all fall away and pluck the answer from infinite possibility sort of thing...
we also tend to deal in absolutes. things are either this or that. whereas things are 'really' a seemingly infinite analog flow.
