I think you are well within your rights to rename kitty as long as you give kitty a new identity to go with the new name...

Congratulations Dawn.

My friend called her cats Bob and Jane. My brother's were Flotsam & Jetsome - Flo Jet for short. My mice were Bubble & Squeak, and Johanne Sebastian Mouse.

Lucky's kind of tempting providence. :chuckle:

Cat, if indeed it is actually a cat, and not just a really really small puma, has been renamed Lucifer as it has done nothing but hiss and spit and us since it arrived

I'm not falling in love with this cat so far which is a shame, but the thing is possessed!

Oh dear, dawn - hopefully Lucifer will settle down once he gets used to his new home!

When I was a little kid, we got a cat called Nancy. When Mum took "her" to the vets to be "done", it transpired that "she" was actually a "he"! However, the name Nancy stuck, and we also nick-named him "poofy-cat" (I know, I know - I apologise for the political non-correctness of that but it was the early 1970s!). He was a fabulous cat, BTW, and lived to the ripe old age of 15!

Best of luck with your new mog, dawn!

Awww. I think it's scared, dawny, and thinks it has to "defend itself" against the strangers around it. Give it time and leave it for the cat to come to you, rather than trying to make friends with it. I do hope it works out. :crossed:

Thanks all .

Cat hates us though, I know it's scared and we are letting it come to us and not pestering her

I'm just a bit worried about her she is so so nervy

Not sure why the wee thing is so petrified but I feel really bad because it is obviously in distress and I don't know how to make her feel better :(

just got her to purr, all might not be lost after all. Will be up all night with her as I don't want her to be scared in a strange place.

It's like having a newborn! Why did I think it would be a good idea to get another pet????

batou ...i tried her with a mouse filled with catnip and she was scared of it.

I'm a bit reluctant to give her straight catnip as it might react like 'bathsalts' and she will come and eat my face whilst i'm in bed :O
