i had to log in for this one, you got me all excited!
He's alive and well and delivers to my door!
It costs a lot more for the milk than the supermarket but the milk isn't homogenised like the supermarket stuff, you get cream on top! plus i don't have to carry 6 pints of milk in my rucksack any more.
it's great, reminds me of my childhood :hypo:

EDIT, he only delivers 3 times a week, mondays, weds and friday and for 7 pints it costs £4.55.
my mum has hers delivered too

When I was a nipper there was a guy that used to deliver fizzy pop (as we called it back then)
lemonade, orangeade, cream soda and all that lovely stuff in nobbly glass bottles
and we'd save up the bottles to give him next week for a discount on more pop.

anyone else remember those guys?

The Juice van.
Actually there were a few 'vans' that used to come around.

The Tattie man. (Literally selling bags of potatoes).
Coal man
Grocery van (Sold everything from bread to WD40)
Ice cream van

I suppose they just couldn't compete against the big chainstores.
We lost something there eh? :(

Yeah mart, we had something like that. We called it 'the vanny' due to the chap keeping everything in little crates and boxes in the back of small van.

Every Friday evening he'd do the rounds. It's something all the kids in the neighbourhood looked forward to. Halycon days ;)

EDIT - to say that we still have a coal man around here :cool:

This thread has reminded me of how much I used to love dandelion and burdock. Gonna have to get some in when I go shop later..its been a while :cool:

We used to have The Alpine man, Roy the milkman, rag n bone man (with horse drawn cart), coal man and me mam seemed to be at a 'Tupperware party' once a month!

Mine was too, for all her swearing and inappropriate racial stereotyping. She used to take me along sometimes. I think they're still around. Probably a lot of it is done on the evil web these days, though.
