At the moment I got MOT on my mind.
Have spent the last what seems like forever preparing the latest knobmobile. New subframe, new wishbones, new exhaust, new bushes, droplinks, petrol tank straps, umpteen hours of rust grinding and treatment....the list goes on.
I took it in to the local old boy for the test this morning. First thing was, it passed emissions with flying colours. The motor has worn valve stem seals so I was well chuffed

The test carried on going well right up till the last bit of checking the handbrake. At which point the brake line to the OS rear burst

Aborted test

It was the main front to back line, bummer. Luckily me mate's old man fitted a new copper line this afternoon for pennies. He welded on a new bracket too. Got a much better pedal than before now

Got to press in a new wheel bearing in the morning, which also came up and then it can be retested and should pass
Then I can start pimping the ride over winter. I'm gonna buy a new head and totally refurb it. Porting and polishing it as I go. Then a little remap and it should be good for 160BHP. Nice little project for them long dark nights.
Sometimes I do question my sanity when it comes to my commitment to keeping older motors that others would scrap on the roads. It's a hell of a lot of work rescuing them. Still, it's worthy. Also that commitment means that others ask me to help them. I do services and stuff for people and subvert the money paradigm by asking them to pay me in homemade cake. I've eaten a lot of very nice cakes this year
