I was reading the replies to this topic and wanted to add my own response when the tone of the thread went in a direction that I do not like. I feel people are being hostile towards Rick and some of the people being rather hostile to Rick are people I respect a great deal. I do not know Rick very well but I don`t get a bad vibe from him. I see he feels defensive in this case and is perhaps quick to lash out at people who are only asking questions but I don`t think we should be so hostile.

On the original topic I would say that whilst I do not entirely agree and would also say that racism is not unique to white people I would also agree that it tends to occur in the majority. If you grow up as the only white kid in school you probably do not feel the same way as you might if there are hundreds of white kids and only a handful of any other race.

I can only speak from my experience and how I view things. I grew up in England and the biggest minority was Indian. Many white people I know and knew were and probably still are racist towards certain races and cultures. These days I live in the US and I live in a very religious Republican state. The city has a large black population and my wife says at school she was one of the few white kids. She experienced some racism at school towards her I believe. Outside of the Atlanta area in North Georgia and rural areas of Georgia the number of white people goes up and in some areas there are people who do not mix with black folks or Mexicans. As a result they are more racist on the whole.

I think mixing is the key. If you actually get to know somebody of a different culture or race then you are probably not going to be developing fears and hate. On the other hand of course no contact at all might mean that you don`t develop that hate at all. What I mean is that it is perhaps the case that if you are exposed to a race a little then you might develop racism but less exposure and you have not developed that fear but more and you overcome it. Does that make sense?

As for getting banned from DIF, I doubt it. You would have to go agaisnt their main posters' themes:. Try contradicting resistance, positive forward, sniper, rodin or believenothing.
