I think you are a nice poster however I think if you start a thread talking about the colour of peoples skin , you'll annoy (perhaps untentionally) some folks

imho talking about 'racial' issues is divisive by its very nature - there are no 'racial' issues there are only human race issues - all issues stem from one issue and that is people believing themselves or the values/beliefs they have being superior to others. This single issues is universal, the root of every conflict and we are all guilty of it.

I don`t think any topics are off limits for discussion by mature adults. You can learn a lot by discussing things you already think you know all about. Of course topics on race can easily end up as divisive if they are just a bunch of people essentially being racist. On the other hand, I do remember a certain thread about DIF and nazis that I was active on coming under increasing pressure to be dropped. It was indeed moved and I went along with it because I thought that was the wishes of/the best for the community.

I am alarmed by this talk of "ganging up on" and "gang rule" when on re-reading the thread the people challenging the OP were the people that came under most of the abuse. In my opinion they used considerable restraint.

The OP certainly has support in numbers also. And that is as it should be: When disagreement occurs, people sometimes sit it out and sometimes they take sides.

So I don't think there is any question of gangs and censorship.

Because, after all, none of us here with names in blue have the power to censor anyone and those with names in green are good enough not to. Unlike some places I could mention.

I am not trying to divide us mikey and was not talking explicitly about this topic. I was making a general point. All i mean is that if I start a topic about something and get a lot of people questioning my motives etc then perhaps I will not feel welcome and might then decide not to post that topic and it never gets touched. It might be unimportant but It is negative to a community. I appreciate all your input on this topic and on this forum. You are one of the reasons that I came here. All I am saying is that perhaps we can all get along. Racism divides just as so many other topics. I don`t want to divide people. If you disagree with me on a topic I might be tempted to just say "fuck off" and of course that is not a cool headed intelligent response and so I try to resist that most of the time. However sometimes people get angry and they do that.

Misunderstandings are so easy on the internet as somebody has already said. We can worry too much about hidden agendas sometimes. I agree that Rick needs to figure out who is going to be Rick and make it clear to our community who he/she is etc. We should perhaps go out and come back in again. Let`s try this one more time.
