The freaking chain saw wont start  ... I checked the chain oil, refilled...checked the gas/oil mixture, refilled (both were empty). Did the priming, took the chain lock bar off, did the whole neutral thing, it started then puttered out. Now it wont start, period, wont even turn over (so to speak). It's been sitting for a year, I've only had to go at the wood with an ax til now. I am not beyond sawing it by hand, I did most of the sawing last year by hand when I did wood cutting...but I did not pay almost 100 USD for a chain saw to work one season and then take a crap on me.

What do I have to take apart, kick or throw to make it work? :hedbut:

Reason I ask here for stuff I wanna know is because I wont get the response "go buy a new one" or "have someone else fix it".

Might the spark arrestor screen be clogged?

Has it got spark plugs in it?

You might be able to find a youtube clip for whatever modal you've got.

I don't know whether this is any good to you...

Used to watch my dad using one, but he wouldn't let me play with it. :(

Interesting video...and good idea for looking it up on youtube...never occurred to me to do that lol...
Who would'a thought chainsaws had all that shit inside them :O And yeah IKWYM, my mom doesn't really wanna let me play with it either, except she doesn't want to do it...apparently I have to have something like a 50 foot radius to cut wood :coffee:
I'm gonna go dust the thing off and see if I can find the model number and all that stuff...
*slinks off thinking maybe I should have cleaned it to start with* :emb:

1) I don't like google, it's like talking to a computer :fraid:
2) Could have flesh stuck in it...although it's been awhile since I went after anyone with it...unless that red stuff is from one of my recent, drunken episodes in which case I still didn't go after anyone because I can't remember it :coffee:

Tried off and on all day yesterday. I'd get a sputter of life and then it'd stop :umm:
Last resort will come today if I can't get it started, I'll take it a part to the absolute horror of my mother... if I can't find anything wrong, I'll regress to using a saw :dunno:

The jet will be blocked by gunge left in the carbs fuel chamber for that long is all.
Take it off, swill it in some fresh petrol and blow it with an airline, especially the needle and jet it slots in to.

Also check that the rubber diaphragm hasn't gone hard and split or it won't pull any fuel up.
