RA you were not aware that your article concluded entirely the opposite of your assertion attributing lack of empathy to autism..
It came up during a Piers Morgan show on CNN after the shooting...
As for how true that is all the US MSM has left it open for debate...
RA go and listen to what that guy actually said, In fact I've just sat and transcribed it for you and bolded the bs and speculative bits......
"but if indeed mental illness is a part of this, then there is a particular path that needs to be looked at. Is this somebody who became depressed and suicidally depressed?
And with his autism, y'know his roomate Alex Israel mentioned that he, he chose, not, that he preferred to stay alone, well Actually a symptom of Asbergers, and this is one report coming out, which may or may not be true, is something is missing in the brain. The capacity for empathy, for social connection, which leaves the person suffering from this condition prone to serious depression and anxiety and so they're figgety, they're anxious, they're depressed and if they are suicidally depressed, we just don't know enough Piers. I guess what I'm trying to do in agreeing to come here and talk about this is to ask people to don't rush to judgement about who this young man is, we don't have enough information. If it was mental illness that played a role, y'know it's an opportunity for us to do better"
All the guy said really, if it came to court, was "we don't know, best not to rush to judgement' the rest was fluff delivered to fill airtime.
Btw, Morgan is a journalistic joke in the UK. An editor who was sacked for faking a news story and who may well yet end up involved in the phone hacking affair.
If that fuck stated grass was green I would be outside on my hands and knees with a Pantone chart checking it.
"The lack of demonstrated empathy is possibly the most dysfunctional aspect of Aspergers."
The conclusion of your article reads:
A groundbreaking study suggests people with Aspergers do not lack empathy – rather, they feel other’s emotions too intensely to cope. Thus, the “lack of empathy issue” may have more to do with “sensitivity to stimuli” than an inability to put oneself in someone else’s shoes.
So did you read it?
Or did you deliberately cherry pick a quote to suit your "argument" ?
The fact that you are now swerving by bringing up something to which I was NOT referring to; i.e. the Piers Morgan interview who is an authority on er....nothiong except cheap journalism and misinformation and certainly NOT psychiatry or psychology, suggests the latter.

A fabulous quote feather, just fabulous
*and LOL at mikey with “deliberately obtuse man”
the anorak hides the fact that sean is composed of 95% vaginas
The whole autism thing is clearly like saying "linked to al qaeda". Everybody wants to crack the code. Sociopaths lack empathy and i informed by my wife ,who reads, that most sociopaths are not actually violent they just lack empathy. My wife should post here she read up all about Columbine and i mean loads. Websites books everything. As a result i learn a lot too. There was an attempt to say Eric Harris was a sociopath but my wife pointed out he did demonstrate empathy in his journal. I digress though.
You said that sociopath are not actually violent they just lack empathy. Keep in mind that someone's life or job or whatever could got fucked over real good by a sociopath by non-violent means. Just saying.

Well I said most sociopaths are not violent meaning that plenty of them get by and function without killing people but yes they can still cause problems for others. In fact I recall reading that many sociopaths climb high in the business world for obvious reasons.
come at the king....you best not miss

Back to autism, I worked for a woman who had an autistic son, high on the scale, but he had some unusual talents. Sometimes he would look at someone for awhile and then draw pictures and words on a piece of paper that were pretty insightful.
Bill Gates has aspergers.
I guess the really successful businessmen who have been diagnosed with sociopathism will not publicize that fact.

hey ra, we might actually b able to agree on something here. would u say that a lot of children w/special needs or a form of autism receive a lot of outside "help" in the form of government n/or psychologists
(just going on a gut feelin here that says something is off)
There was a psychiatric professional on Coast to Coast AM last night who was talking about all of the mass shootings going back 10 years and how many of the shooters were under treatment or psychiatric care of some type and I think he was also saying that people are attributing the lack of empathy to conditions such as autism, when in his opinion it was the drugs that were shutting down emotions. I think I remember this right, I was falling asleep. When the show comes up on Youtube today I'll try to post it and tell you which part to listen to if you are interested. I think he also mentioned government care, specifically, as well as manchurian candidate scenarios.
Spot on. The drugs are used to curb side-effects and usually result badly. Autistics normally have a very high amount of empathy, especially for animals. Drugs will only confuse them and invoke frustration. The only other shooting case regarding autism I've heard of was a boy in orange county who shot a few others and then himself because no one would be his friend. Society is to blamed in a case such as that, and in the most recent too I believe.

Amazing. It's sad how these people get stepped on. I for one wish she was my doctor. I can't say vaccines have done me significant damage but psychiatric drugs definitely have.
Call me by any name, any way it's all the same.

I'm really, really both scared and skeptical of psychiatric drugs...
But i've seen people have schizophrenic attacks that need them so i can't say for sure...
