Its called urban collapse,the society we are creating is unsustainable ,I pity what the people and generations have to look forward to if it is not sorted, we are going to resemble something out of Mad Max in the near future...we will have the elites living in protected gated communities with whats left of the earths resources that we are using up like crazy,and the rest of society will be everyone for themself, like it is now but a lot worse...

The problem with the gun debate is in the south i understand why people who live on alot of land wan't guns.

But up here in the north the kids are always shooting each other over rap songs ect....

So part of me want's the US to have gun laws just like the UK.

But i can see why Batou might be like dude STFU since he is in West Virginia.

So much of America is still undeveloped and outside areas with a high population guns are a way of life.

Suspended terms for gun sale Durham Police officers.

Two Durham police officers who sold on guns which had been handed in to the force for safe disposal have been given suspended prison sentences.

Pc Maurice Allen, 47, and Pc Damien Cobain, 41, had admitted misconduct.

The pair were arrested in February 2009 when officers investigating a gun theft were told it had been bought from police.

Allen was sentenced to 51 weeks, which was suspended for two years, and Cobain to 40 weeks, suspended for 18 months.



The pair were suspended from the force when the investigations began.

It was conducted by Durham Police's professional standards department under the supervision of the Independent Police Complaints Commission (IPCC).

Allen, of Houghton le Spring, had nearly 29 years' police service, while Cobain, of Sunderland, had been with the force for eight years.

In sentencing the pair, the judge at Newcastle Crown Court criticised the arrangements for gun registration that had been in place at Durham Constabulary.

He described them as "extremely lax, if not chaotic".

Durham Police said it had since tightened up procedures.

The reasons that U.K. would be better of without guns are the same reasons that the USA would be better off without guns. Sure the U.K. has violence and crime but that would be much worse if you flooded the island with guns. Of course the problem is that once you flood an island with guns it is really tough to go back to how things were before.

Ra, now you discovered kidulthood and adulthood, may I also recommend: shank, harry brown and ill manors.

All of which show a similar view of inner city London.
It has to be said that whilst they may not exactly overplay the issues, they do sort of condense a lot of 'bad shit' into a short time period.

I am confused as to why you reference gun crime in the UK via movies and not news stories.

There are plenty of real life articles on the web from how the weapons are obtained to why they get used and by who.

My view is with regards to Americas gun controls and gun society is a historical one.

When N America was discovered (and this thought of mine can be applied to many other countries, perhaps with the exception of Australia), almost every person who 'landed' was armed. So the whole country was set up with a gun strapped to your hip as the norm. Not just for defence against the 'natives' but also for hunting.
When guns were 'invented' there has always been a control on who has guns in the UK.

So when a society has been established, as in the case of USA, with guns being a 'necessity' basically....you cannot take that away. It's a way of life, it's like removing an extra apendage.
