I just get really depressed as I don't function well with sleeping people. I am a loner and just the thought of going up every morning to get to a job I don't want anyway to dwell around with sleeping people until afternoon does not fit well with me. I never had the "American dream" that I'm supposed to love. I just don't get this lifestyle, of course I don't look down on them that do like this lifestyle but it's just not for me. Everything many of the sleeping people do on their jobs these days during the breaks is gossip about celebrities, soap operas, family/friends, behind peoples backs and so forth. Or they talk about new gadgets and technology and other pointless things I don't want to be a part of. There is no jobs I would enjoy doing, I would just waste half my day to make money and when I come home it's time to make dinner, then after that I will be awake a few hours more before it's time to go to bed to go through the same routine monday to friday. Our lives are short, I can not understand how people put up with it..

You who are without jobs here, how do you get by? How do you make money?

I feel terrible for anybody struggling to get by without a job these days, it must make people feel pretty bad to know they aren't successful and to think it is their fault.

I've been very lucky to marry a successful man, we own our house now and I am able to get paid for my passion which is fostering.

If you have a passion that you can get paid for you are one of the lucky ones, my brother is an aspiring writer, his profession however is "hydro ceramic engineer", there are plenty of menial jobs out there to do for a wage and in this way you can pursue other passions in your leisure time.

You have to be really good at something that actually pays well and that means you have to make compromises and inevitably end up doing something you might not enjoy or excel at.
Well, this is true. It depends what goals you set yourself. If you set yourself the goal of being wealthy or even having a 'middle-class' income then you might be setting the bar too high. I think at this point in time in our society, and I would presume in Sweden, it's still possible to do something independent. Yes, you might have to compromise a little, but I think if you set yourself the goal of making loads of money, working for yourself, and doing something you really enjoy, and not compromising at all then there aren’t many people that have ever done this. If you set yourself more achievable goals then it can be done, I believe.

The only reason I say this is I wanted to do one thing all my life, and I couldn’t see any way of making money at it so I just accepted that I couldn’t do it. As soon as I stopped worrying about that and committed myself to just trying really hard for a year then I was surprisingly successful. I accept that I was (a) lucky, (b) happen to have a marketable skill, (c) am pretty naturally gifted in this area, (d) that lots of other people are in competition with me and desperately struggling to scrape a living, (e) that it might not last forever and (f) there are lots of parts of the world where people have little or no hope.

But I do think that if you find something suitable and really commit yourself to it then you can still even in our warped society make something out of it. If you don’t try at all then your chances of success are precisely 0%.
The true measure of a man is not his intelligence or how high he rises in this freak establishment. The true measure of a man is this: how quickly he can respond to the needs of others and how much of himself he can give - Philip K. Dick.

I was in a very well paid job, great t&c's etc, and was very good at what I did, and actually enjoyed it.
Then my life fell apart for a while, and instead of my employer helping me through my difficult time, they made things hard for me, and only added to my stress and misery. So I jacked it in, now I have little income, and was almost homeless unless very recently. You know what? I've never been happier. So, no more corporate world for me, I am currently setting up my own business, which is fun 'coz I've never done owt like this before.

I lived this very way for a while and loved it  I also used to forage in charity shop skips, go to the posh areas early on bin day and then heave the lot in a shopping trolley or two and hit the boot sales. Usually got enough in to make some wise purchases like yours at the booty too  One of my faves was a first pressing of Electric Ladyland which I got for £2. You all know the one :atomic: ( I just found that emote whilst I was looking for the titties one). Later on I went into the vinyl more, trawling the world's online auctions at silly o clock, knabbing bargains and putting them back online to end at 9PM UK time ;) It's a good life for them that are prepared to put in the effort.

Well done you

get yourself a premium rate phone number....

go on the interwebz and start doing surveys, filling out online forms for insurance quotes...

sit back and let all the cold callers make your money for you, since all these data mining ops online all usually sell your personal contact details, your phone number will soon be in the hands of many companies who cold call.

job done!
