I think so yes, Tesco is the big guy, do you advise people who complain about tesco taking their business to suicide bomb tesco?

G'day Guevarista.

That is a straw man argument mate.

For a start Tesco's isn't bombing the fuck out of your neighbourhood. They also don't have checkpoints in your neighbourhood to control the movements of you and your neighbours. Tesco's aren't stealing your land and having the Tesco employees move into it.

If someone comes up to you and starts punching you in the face, do you simply not complain or attempt to stop them from doing so ?

Or do you take physical action to stop them from doing so ?

Remember, for the Palestinians, it's not like they are getting any help in stopping the atrocities from happening by the international community ... unlike Israel does ... remember, 65 UN resolutions that the state of Israel has ignored, yet, apart from some pointless rhetoric, they get military aid to continue committing 'war crimes' / crimes against humanity.

If you were in that situation, what would you do ?

If there's a rabid dog killing members of your community, it is beneficial to kill the rabid dog to stop it killing anymore members of your community.
You can't reason someone out of a position they didn't reason themselves into.

Again, no answer to a straight question. It's getting tedious now :(

It doesn't bother me, the thread will sink a day or two after this particular skirmish is over, hopefully next time we talk about it Hamas itself will be past tense Insha'Allah :killinme:

Hi Iam,
If there’s a rabid dog killing members of your community, it is beneficial to kill the rabid dog to stop it killing anymore members of your community.
So the PLO should kill Hamas (Rabid dog)? I have a suspicion that's why the Israeli's are practically dismantling the Hamas control structure, they had good intel taking out the leader and military commanders etc.

Mods; Can we have an Israeli Flag smiley please because I'd like to include one after that last sentence.

Following a calm night in south Israel, dozens of rockets were fired on the region on Monday morning. One projectile exploded near a school in Ashkelon, damaging the building. Another projectile fired shortly thereafter exploded in a home's yard. No injuries were immediately reported. The IDF continued to strike Gaza terror hubs overnight Sunday and on Monday morning.

The first air raid sirens sounded at approximately 6:30 am Monday in the Hof Ashkelon, Sha'ar Hanegev and the Eshkol regional councils. Rocket barrages followed, largely exploding in open areas across the south, while others were intercepted by the Iron Dome. The aerial defense system shot down projectiles fired on the cities of Ashdod, Beersheba and Sderot, among others.

NIS 2.2 billion has been invested to date in the development, production lines, and procurement of five operational Iron Dome batteries serving the Israel Air Force's air defense network. The estimated price of each battery is $55 million, and the cost of each Tamir interceptor missile is estimated at $50,000.

The savings

Thanks to state-of-the-art radar and command and control capability, the Iron Dome can manage "combat economics" and calculate at an early stage the trajectory of an incoming rocket and where it will land. If the rocket will hit a populated area, the Iron Dome fires an interceptor missile. If the incoming rocket is going to hit an open area, where it will cause no injuries or damage, no interceptor missile is launched.

Because of Hamas.

Goals
Hamas's 1988 charter calls for the replacement of Israel and the Palestinian Territories with an Islamic Palestinian state.

I wouldn't really say there is one reason, but the one i've givn in this thread and the one DG highlights is the level of Religious zealotry and anti semitism there, obviously Israeli missiles fuel that but they're given little option than to use force.

Ironic that earlier in this very thread you said that certain posts were one sided and here you are ignoring the kind of intolerance and hatred exhibited in the likes of the video Oi posted earlier.
This shizzle cuts both ways no?

This rather disturbing film shows just how entrenched the hatred is.....The little boy Ahmed breaks my heart. How the hell can a schism this deep ever be healed?

Have you ever considered where the rockets Hamas fire come from?

Palestine can't get food, medical supplies, or any of the basic amenities yet somehow high explosive rockets make it past the Israeli blockades?

Luke & Darth came from the same spunk....

Hi all, hope you're all doing good.

I'll try & keep this as short as I can.

So glad I didn't join in earlier, so much pent up aggression, so much political distress, hearts going out to poor people caught up in this shit left & right, what a stramash.

We all take a side to some degree & most say in the end.. 'we just don't want any more blood or suffering.' I'd like peace out there for real.

I've been in Israel, Jordan & Egypt. There's too much religion mixed in with their politics. Each can be wonderful places & each can be very scary places. Each have their potential.

For whatever is said about the reasons and mechanisms of Israel's reformation - it is there now. It's 20% Arab with many other cultures & peoples plus the only majority national Jewish society on earth. For anyone to destroy this melting pot of life it would be a damn atrocity.

........

It is terrible that the war machine of Israel has gone back into action and the rise of the freedom fighter has been instigated again. Many innocent victims, Palestinians mainly, are left in a bloody mess. There's no excuse for murder.

Ghandi was right & should be followed if humans are ever going to progress properly.

If only we could get rid of extremisim in humanity's soul.

The fight is against the old home owners and the occupiers. One was kicked out of their nation, one was kicked out of their land. One is protecting it's citizens, one is fighting for their future.

Confusing already eh? Just depends where you're reading from I suppose.

What can stop it? Why stop it?

What can stop the blood loss is to cease rocket fire into Israel. Would Israel then have any excuse to show aggression to Gaza?

But why stop the march to total victory by the Arabs?

........

5 years of daily rockets - firing primitive rockets into civilian neighbourhoods is not necessarily to kill or injure but to terrorize. The rocket attacks erode the public’s faith in the government’s ability to defend it. They weaken Israeli deterrence in an increasingly dangerous region. And the lack of drama and lack of media attention ensures that, when Israel finally loses patience and retaliates, much of the world blames Israel, not Hamas, for escalating tensions.

For now there’s no political solution. Hamas doesn’t recognize Israel’s right to exist; under Hamas rule, Gaza’s children are taught to see Jews as satanic and their state as illegitimate. Hamas’s goal isn’t a two-state solution but a one-state solution, over the ruins of Israel. Israel cannot negotiate anything with Hamas.

They have been able to sit with the West Bank leadership but are now thwarted by the upcoming UN petition. This again can only lead to a lessening of potential of peace.

It is clear that Hamas & Fatah see no negotiation as the way forward. It is then also clear that "When the Palestinians value their children more than they value the killing of Israelis, peace will have a chance."

........

The current escalation started with an manned IDF jeep being blown up. Israel responded by targeting the Hamas leader that kidnapped Gilad Shalit.

Hamas has since fired more than 1000 rockets into Israel in 7 days. Israel has targeted hundreds of Hamas sites.

Who told Hamas to target the jeep? They could have done this anytime since 2007.

Iran. To take the flack off of Syria.

Where is Syria in the news even though 140 were reported killed on Saturday alone.

""Iranians tried heating up the fronts on the Israeli borders via their agents. When unsuccessful on the Syrian and Lebanese fronts, they chose the Gaza Strip. "When the Golan front did not move quickly enough for al-Assad and Iran, they resorted to the Gaza front, because this can be inflamed far quicker" ""

Egypt is now in the hands of The Muslim Brotherhood of which Hamas is an off-shoot. They're threatening assistance which of course means opening the Gaza border to allow arms in, maybe some humanitarian help too, to the militia at least.

Meantime Iran holds the sway against their 'secret' sparring partner Israel. The news is off Iran's nuclear ambitions too.

Iran wants a sit down with the USA in December. Why? Because China & Russia are not so close to Iran these days, in trade & military asistance.

After this provocation against Israel, I doubt if even Obama will be so easy to deal with this time.

........

A parting comment...

A ground offensive would be very damaging for Israel in UN politics at this tepid time but would certainly warm their war-oils in prep for the coming Lebanese offensive. Too many powerful Iranian missles up there now.

But why aren't these missles in Gaza??? You know the answer - because Hamas is not treated the same way by Iran as Hezbollah. Gaza has always been a punching bag in use.

It seems there is a black moon rising elsewhere. Meanwhile Iran is ready to double uranium enrichment at Fordo underground site (IAEA).

........

Thanks out to most on this thread, fair points all round! For Real.
Especially liked this comment..
"The fact is imo it’s fucking stupid to take sides or form a personal allegiance to one side or the other, that’s what opportunists and emerging/conserving powers try to do, we have the ability to objectively study and understand the entire history of the region, and who benefits from the perpetual war of Jews and Arabs; answer: everyone except Jews and Arabs."

The current round of hostilities between Israel and the Hamas government in Gaza is rooted in an internal struggle within Hamas. The organization is embroiled in a leadership struggle pitting the Iranian-backed Ismail Haniyeh against the Qatar and Egypt-supported Khaleed Mashal and his deputy Musa Abu Marzuq.

Signs of the internal conflict were already visible during the visit of the emir of Qatar in Gaza, where he delivered a clear message: should Hamas cease its terror operations and rocket offensive against Israel and engage in reconstruction, it would receive US$ 400 billion from the Qatari government. At the same time, Qatar attempted to convince the Hamas leadership in Gaza to forgo its ambition to serve as the organization’s official global leadership.

One of the arguments against the leadership in Gaza, exemplified by the current round of hostilities, is that it is exposed to Israeli surveillance and targeting. Hence, it is arguably better to base the leadership in remote locations such as Cairo or Doha. Ahmad Jabari’s demise served to prove Qatar’s argument.

Qatar’s visit to Gaza was viewed with suspicion in Tehran, where the Iranian government has good reason to believe that Qatar aims to undercut Gaza’s ties to the Islamic republic. While Khaleed Mashal and Musa Abu Marzuq have formally joined the Sunni Muslim Brotherhood, the Gazan leadership has remained loyal to Shiite Iran, whose presence in the Gaza Strip runs deep. It controls the military wing of the Al Qassam Brigades, leaving the civil leadership embodied by Haniyeh and Mahmoud al-Zahar no alternative but to challenge Mashal and Abu Marzuq in the struggle for regional leadership.

It seems there is a black moon rising elsewhere. Meanwhile Iran is ready to double uranium enrichment at Fordo underground site (IAEA).
