One of the main things which caused frustration for me on DIF, beside some of the other issues, is the fact that so many posters seem to have such contempt for David Icke but without really explaining why. Things like "he's a cult leader" or "in it for the money" and its generally (or so it very much seems) from people who havent read or understood any of his books. Ironically these are the same people who feel they should have input about how his forum is run. Personally I dont "follow" anyone, but take info from here and there and see what feels right and as such am repulsed by anyone trying to attract a 'following' - but I just dont see what there is to dislike about Icke. Fair enough, people don't have to agree with him but people seem to spit venom when they hear his name - and that is something which has confused me as much of the negativity and racism over on DIF. I was going to contact Icke to see what he thinks about this place, but why bother? He will look at the thread and think "well, they all think im a cunt anyway so what do they expect". People have their reasons for why they think, and i dont know enough about this mod thing anyway - but jeez, if Icke is in this for the money then ill eat my hat (has anyone seen the video where you see the car he drives and house he lives in?) I mean, he talks on stage and writes in books about how he perceives the nature of reality, nothing more, so I just dont get what there is to dislike so much. Sorry if its off topic, but it seems relevant to me when trying to weigh everythng up.
Fair points dom. None of us will really know unless we know him personally, at which point we could probably make an appropriate judgement, if we were so inclined.
I never really undestood folks that sign up somewhere just to diss the place either, but that's just people, I guess.
We've had a few here already.
I think, for my part, I'm more sceptical of the actual man for his lack of response about the goings-on on his own forum, regardless of how much actual involvement he has in the place. I mean, it has his name plastered all over it, so he should really step up if he is even aware that there is an issue.
I'm sure many here share that frustration too. As someone who has spent money on his books and actually followed him for some time, I feel I have the right to say some of the things I've said, as do others.
As I've said before though, if he's happy to let things slide as they are, that's his decision. Really, the lack of action there tells me all I need to know as I don't buy the whole 'he isn't aware' thing for a second. The reason this is a recurring theme here though, should be fairly obvious, plus the fact that you aren't allowed to talk about this stuff on the actual forum.
