Is it bad that I don't feel at all disgusted by this? Meat is meat, and stuff ends up in the food chain all the time. I read an article the other day about fake beef being sold in Norway that was actually pork. Nobody noticed for years!

I ate horse once when I went abroad. In all honesty I'll try anything and eat any of God's creatures if I'm hungry enough. :chuckle:

It doesn't say horse burger on the label :p

I've had ostrich steaks not long back and they were bloody good actually!

Actually what worries me is that the other animal DNA is showing up in small amounts because the cows are being fed those animals.

I never thought of that. The idea of eating cows that have been eating horses does turn my stomach!

I can see what you mean Lesley. But whatever the beast, I wonder what bits are used. :O

For some reason, the prospect of eating eye-lids, rectums & sweetbreads makes me queasy.

I used to like burgers when I was in my teens, but after eating a few that had a distinctly odd flavour, I vowed to only have home made ones, so that you know what's in them.

I'm with you on the eyelids and rectums. I don't want to eat those!

The only burgers I've eaten for years now have been ones I've made myself, using steak mince from the butcher's. :D

Now I have an image of you chasing it down in a field and tucking into it 'lion style'. :)

Not many people realise that the cheap steak they tuck into when they visit a Harvester type of place is zebu, not beef. A zebu is a hybrid cow type animal with 7 legs. :O

Ok, I made the legs bit up.

I had smoked horse-meat in Spain, cut razor-thin like ham de serrano, and it was lush.

In Cataluna, baby-goat is a speciallity, and that is better than spam-fritters.

Yes, in Gran Canaria, a man with a stand on the beach insisted on cutting some slivers of meat off some giant leg of something and feeding them to me & my mate - then told us it was camel. I don't know whether he was kidding or not, but I didn't recognise the taste. It was good.

Jhado - when I had horse it was in some sort of cured sausage in France. It also contained donkey. On the whole, they don't seem as fussy as the Brits.

I had chicken, reindeer, venison, wild boar and pork over Xmas. I'm going to have some liver in a bit - yum.
