It's 'Rocky Horror' inspired actually...gonna be good.

I'm this excited: :hypo:

That sounds awesome. I'm a little bit jealous, because I would love to get more and get a half sleeve done with 1940s style pin up girls and the like. Mr Pumpshaft wouldn't like it. :( I already have a wallpaper of Jillian Michaels www.health.com/health/gallery/0,,20670974,00.html ans have an unhealthy obsession with her. It wouldn't be very good if Mr P thought I had turned cocmpletely.

But, you go for it my lad. Be sure to post a pic.

I keep having a recurring dream about it. It is meant to be.

What baffles me is when people ask whether you'll like them when your in your 60's and 70's. What the actual fuck? By then you'll be all wrinkly, saggy and possibly showing the first signs of alzheimer's. It would be the least of your worries.

How do you deal with family bigots.

Dealing with bigoted minor relatives has never been a problem for me. I hardly see my cousins/uncle/aunts and when I do I mainly blank them or just tell them upfront to fuck off and stay away from me. This has worked for for a long time and means I can go 4 or 5 years without having to clap eyes on the twats.

The situation has now taken an interesting turn.

I had an enormous sweary row with my mother last week. A woman who depsite her age and blinkered cockney upbringing has always - at least I thought - been above the hysteria of hatred that our modern media ramps up. Last week - in light of the Woolwich murder - she launched into an amazing 'they're gonna force us to convert to Islam - they will force us to have Sharia law - they wanna behead us all' rant that led to me losing my temper and using some very choice words to describe her. Ok, so I called her a racist cunt. :D

Here's the problem. I have an absolute fucking zero tolerance toward bigotry. As far as I'm concerened she can fuck right off. I have no interest or intention of spending one second in her company. To her it's just a disagreement and should be forgotten about but I feel too strongly to just sweep it away and pretend that everything is just dandy.
I always knew there would come a time when I would have to sever ties with her and it looks like the time is now.

It won't be the first time I've turned my back on her. I avoided her for about 5 years during the 90s when she was getting on my tits and I think this one could be a long haul.

I can't help how I feel. Anyone that knows me - and she knows me well - knows that I will not stand for blind, irrational hatred and I treat bigots with utter disdain.

Anyone else have similar issues?

Anyone who says I am over reacting gets a wedgie. :)

Firstly nice choice of words :D

Secondly I can relate although from a slightly different ethical POV; I haven't spoken to my mam for 3 years after she fell out with me because I told her her new fella would be having no contact with any of the females in my life after discovering he ran a massage parlour/knocking shop with girls from Eastern Europe. She'd left my old fella for this new bloke but didn't find out this particular detail until a good few months down the line, having made her bed she then had to somehow get comfortable with this new info, and knowing my conservative mum she's just had to swallow it and then listen to me arguing about the immorality of it all to the point she asked "when did your high horse get all ethical?" (ignoring all the previous set-to's we'd had regarding my morals and ethics "I blame the parents" wasn't the response she hoped for.

Anyway, as a result she backed off from us almost completely, I confronted her, as much for her grand-daughter as anything, to which she said something about it being better that they hadn't bonded well and she'd done them both a favour as we were always gonna move to Greece eventually. I said "goodbye then" and apart from the occasional courteous email "yes, she got your xmas/birthday card, thanks" we don't speak, I don't know where she lives, what her new name is or what her new boobs look like and really prefer matters this way, she on the other hand has a grand-daughter who didn't know who Grandma was this birthday just gone and another granddaughter who's never met her!

It'd be bad enough falling out over something she truly felt strongly about, to defend a brothel though when she'd normally be the one starting the petition to close it, I can't be arsed wasting my time on her tbh, more important girls in my life now :)

The confusion is in the titles people in our lives have and the expectations these titles infer.
Once you accept that, if you remove the titles the dilemma goes with them.

In life. the picture on the box never matches the puzzle inside.

I would have thought that missing seeing her grandkids grow up would be a concern for her. :(

I totally agree with your can't be arsed attitude. Pity that parents don't come with a receipt. :)

Mine is a very matriachal family. All the aunts, uncles and cousins all defer to my mother. Dang cockneys!

I'm best shot of the lot of them. If I keep close contact with my little sisters they'll just be used as a source of information about me.

I am so bloody desperate to move at least 300 miles away from them all.

Hugo...I believe we may have the very same mother.

Does this mean we can never have sex? :umm:

I feel your pain and the only advice I can give is try to limit contact if all else fails. I've tried sitting down with mine and explaining things but some folks really are just too old or stubborn to change. We have tacitly agreed not to discuss such things and she will try not to say the things that she now knows irk me somewhat in my presence.

Mind, this latest truce took me turning blue in the face and again emphasising that she is making herself look utterly ignorant besides everything else, particularly when she does it in front of folk she doesn't even know. I also ignored her for about a month and she hates that.

Bitch.

This sort of thing highlights one of the major stumbling blocks to us all getting our shit together. Hugo's mum is lacking insight. This leads her to suck up propaganda and spit crap, think crap and basically live crap. She needs help but her actions put up blocks in others that may well be capable of offering assistance.
As they have with Hugo.
And so another division is cemented. Good work Mr propagandist. Give yerself a clap.

Divide and rule alive and well.

I hadn't read this thread until today, so I just wanted to say that you're doing a great job / have done a great job, whichever would seem to be more appropriate!

The problem I always find with family is that other people are allowed to say whatever they want, they can sit there and make statements that would have Adolf Hitler considering them a bit too far right for his taste. And I will let people have their say because I believe in total free speech, but if you say something racist, or even just stupid, in front of me, you are going to hear my opinion. And then they get mortally wounded and offended, even though just seconds ago they were decrying millions of people in one fell swoop. Okay, I have probably just called them a cowardly, halfwitted, knuckle dragging idiot, and completely decimated the pig ignorant, feeble argument that they put forward, but that's they're own fault for clinging to tawdry opinions and not being able to back them up with anything of substance.

Apparently, I'm in the wrong when I do this because I don't let other people have their say and opinions. Actually, I do, it's just that they can't back any of their opinions up, and I can. There seems to be the perception that I'm somehow causing disharmony, and what I should in fact do is keep quiet when someone is making some absolutely absurd, and probably offensive, comment that doesn't stand up to any scrutiny whatsoever.

Tbf though knob, people like this can have quite a detrimental effect on one's well-being...even if they did give you life to begin with.

I found I had to distance myself. Whether or not they realise it, some people manipulate everyone around them and just generally cause misery.

You can blame propaganda but the long and short of it is that people need to remember they do have the capacity for independent thought and don't have to believe everything they read/see on the telly.

I hear you wub.
I've spent my life being unpopular because of my tendency to call out uncomfortable opinions.
I'm loath to cite an old conservative but as Edmund Burke rightly said "The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men, (or women), to do nothing."

My lass is no child anymore and has taken whatever I may have given her and built on it. She's her own person now.
I was impressed that she allowed her friends an out but declared she was not for moving or hiding.

I've never bothered with my dad much in my adult life, because he was a rotten bastard wile I was growing up. A mean-spirited, self-centered bully. But I'll give him this - in the pre-internet years, when info wasn't there at your fingertips, he was well into defying the demands for filling in the census, advising them to mind their own sodding business; wrote to MP's etc kicking off when they first proposed adding flouride to the water; prevented me & my brother from getting some vaccination or other when everyone else had them at school, because he said it was full of toxic shit etc.

I ignored him for years when he tried to blackmail my mother into attending my wedding as his partner (she'd just left him after years of abuse) - or else he wouldn't pay for my wedding. I never asked him to pay for anything, and as a result of his antics, I didn't even invite him to it.

My mum, in recent years has said she doesn't want to talk about, or even know about false flag events, the banking system and anything much to do with the world of conspiracy. My sister & myself have tried to tell her stuff. I can respect her wish to not dwell on those things, because they frighten her, and she feels helpless about it. But she's on the ball with a lot of her own observations, judging by the comments she makes about things like ATOS & the bedroom tax etc, and the fat, greedy, thieving politicians. In fact she informed me that she'll be out in her disabled vehicle, joining in when people start hitting the streets to protest about such matters.

Here's a bomb shell akin to, 'I'm married to a Free Mason'.

My older brother has recently jacked in a job, because he hated it, for which I'm enormously thankful.

I don't see him more than once every couple of years, because he's moved round the globe with his work. He started as an area manager, and ended up getting promoted, and was one of 2 people selected from the entire, global workforce for some special training, that saw him having paid holidays in the Bahamas & all sorts. His company car was a Rolls, and he was on mega-bucks. Me & my sister used to ask him questions about it whenever we got chance, but he wouldn't answer any of them, saying that he hated work, and had no intention of discussing it in his free time. We think the 'special training' may possibly have been CP related, but he kept tight-lipped.

Anyway, finally, about a year ago, he dumped his senior position with G4S. There. I've got it off my chest.
