Still harping on now..... tedious.
Although we could have sent Pardew down to headbutt the entire squad had they won.

At £100k per headbutt I reckon he'd be brassic afterwards!

Man, we still have to listen about the time they beat us 1-9 in 1908. You think after a hundred years they'd just let go.
But now I have come to believe that the whole world is an enigma,
a harmless enigma that is made terrible by our own mad attempt to interpret it as though it had an underlying truth.

England boss Roy Hodgson has defended Tom Cleverley after an online petition was set up calling for the Manchester United midfielder to be banned from selection for his World Cup squad.

The petition, which accuses Cleverley of "inept" displays, has gained over 10,000 signatures since it was posted.

Hodgson, who has included the 24-year-old in Wednesday's squad to face Denmark, said: "It doesn't impress me.

"He deserves to be in this 30-man group. He's done an awful lot of good."

www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/26442914

I'm not one to single out United players for constant abuse, but Cleverley has done absolutely nowt to warrant an England place.
It shows how desperate they are for a reasonable standard of quality. I can hardly see the likes of Spain quaking in their boots with him in midfield.
However, a lot of United fans seem to forget that players like Darren Fletcher also underwent the same sort of abuse before actually becoming good... it just takes some players more time to develop to their full potential. Fergie obviously saw something he liked in Cleverley, but he's been overused this season by Moyes & midfield has been a key issue for United losing games, not just due to Cleverley but also poor tactics.

Spain bench this evening:

Reina, Valdes, Juanfran, Albiol, Alonso, Xavi, Cazorla, Silva, Navas, Koke, Negredo.

de Gea, Arbeloa, Pique, Monreal, Mata, Isco, David Villa, Llorente and Torres not even in the squad.

Hopefully you saw the goal. They don't come along all that often.

I watched the last 20 mins so thankfully didn't endure the usual boring tedium.
From what I saw, Denmark looked awful which made England look OK but not amazing.

Well done fellas

England U20s Cerebral Palsy team win gold

Ollie Nugent scored twice as the England U20s Cerebral Palsy squad won gold at the Paralimpiadas Escolares seven-a-side football event in Sao Paolo over the weekend.

A weeklong event, Paralimpiadas Escolares featured a variety of different Paralympic sports and England found themselves against regional teams from across Brazil in the CP football tournament.

Emyle Rudder, Michael Fletcher and Harry Baker all shone for England in the final against Rio de Janiero while Giles Moore made some key saves to keep the Brazilian side at bay in normal time.

But it was Nugent who eventually broke the deadlock, scoring twice in extra-time as England sealed gold with a 2-0 win.

England had beaten Mato Grosso on penalties 4-2 after a 0-0 draw in the semi-final.

The organisers of Paralimpiadas Escolares invited Paralympic athletes from across Great Britain to compete alongside their Brazilian counterparts as a gesture of good will with London having passed over the Paralympic torch to Rio for 2016.

Not all football related but the first clip and the distraught Newcastle fan are brilliant.

I love this programme. I don't know what went wrong with their hiring policy for everyone else that works on the station, though.

That was a disgrace yesterday. Spineless, toothless & gutless. No creativity. No flair. Nothing. It was dire.
Players & the manager let down the fans who were tremendous.
Crap players yesterday - Rafael, Jones, Vidic, Evra, Carrick, Fellaini, Janujaz, Mata, Rooney, RVP, Welbeck, Cleverley.
Poor tactics - totally outplayed in midfield - easily done with 3 decent players against 2. The forwards aren't getting any service & it's pointless to try to squeeze so many good attacking players into the team. It might work if the rest of the team is playing well, under Fergie. The defence is an absolute shambles - the fullbacks don't defend. Vidic & Rio have lost their legs & the others are bumbling youngsters.

Can't blame Moyes entirely but it does seem like he's well out of his depth. If he can't motivate his team against Liverpool or at least attempt to change tactics when it's obvious that there is a glaring problem throughout the whole game he shouldn't even be managing a non-league side.
Bringing on Tom Cleverley to attempt to swing the game back in favour is a bit like Ron Atkinson bringing on Alan Brazil for the last 15 minutes when 2-0 down.
Fans have been very patient so far with Moyes but it's starting to wear very thin. He just doesn't seem to have a plan B or even a plan A.
His appointment in my humble opinion was a total error. Maybe it was a last masterstroke by Fergie to let us know how good he really was by appointing somebody he knew would not be able to get that bunch of average players to play as well as he did, but that would only make him look bad because it was his poor, final choice to have Moyes succeed him. Somebody with far greater experience was needed for the role. So far Moyes & all his staff have just come across as amateurs.

I still think Chelsea or City will win it though.

That was a bit of a shellacking that United took.

The Neviller spotted the midfield overload after about 5 minutes yet it seem to take Moyes over an hour to do something about it. Top 4 looks like a no-go this year yet I don't think a season of Europa footy will benefit United in anyway.

I'd quite like to see Liverpool win it this year, but as long as Chelsea don't I'll be a happy fella.

Watching the game yesterday, I have no idea what United were trying to do. They had no discernible pattern of play, shape or attacking intent. Van Persie might as well not have been on the pitch. Despite this, they were totally outnumbered in midfield and appalling at the back. I cannot believe how bad they were. Liverpool obviously thrashed them, but I think they would have lost against almost any team in the Premier League playing like that. I can't believe that they're going to let Moyes continue unless there's some serious improvement before the end of the season. These are exceptional circumstances with Ferguson having been there so long, but if it was Real Madrid, for example, he would have gone by now. The supporters and club just would not stand for it. It's all very well and good 'giving Moyes time', but at some point there has to be some vague evidence of improvement.

I realise those are controversial remarks around here but I'll attempt to justify them.

As a non-leaguer I'm quite partial to the national team, and if Liverpool win the title I like the idea of 4 or 5 England starters going to the world cup with a bit of a spring in their step. No, not to win it, just to make a fist of it and not get gumped.

According to a couple of Spanish journos I heard over the weekend Brendan Rogers is next choice for the Barcelona job. Rest easy, they'll be back to mid table mediocrity in a year or two. :)

If the scousers win it I'll be gutted. But Rodgers will have done a great job so no wonder the bigger fish are perhaps circling.
I just don't think they've quite got it in them this season to win it though. And Chelsea are fairly hit & miss with their form.... so I'm going for Citeh.

I'd love to see Alex Ferguson drive across town with the trophy & present it to City. That would be hilarious!

He could just drive past Eastlands and fling it out the window. :D

There will be a glimmer of hope tonight. I can see United flattening Olympiakos tonight and progressing to the quarters, after that it could get very sticky.
