There will be a glimmer of hope tonight. I can see United flattening Olympiakos tonight and progressing to the quarters, after that it could get very sticky.

There will be a glimmer of hope & it's about time that team put in a decent performance - they can do it but I suspect more of the same.
But with rumours abound now that Moyes has lost the dressing room & has fallen out with key staff maybe the only way to win it is to ignore Moyes & just try & play like last year. Lot of people saying he's got this game & the City game this weekend to turn it around or he's out. I heard a whisper even his agent has said he's out of his depth. I reckon they'll give him to the end of the season unless he really turns things about.

I can't see them giving him until the end of the season unless they intend giving him next season too, at least I hope not after last summer's transfer debacle.

You'd think from a business angle it would make sense to do it sooner. I think it's evident that running a club that size is considerably out of Moyes grasp & it will take years for him to suss it out & years to rebuild the team.... business aint got no time for that when missing out on the CL ! But there's this constant lingering thing about 'giving the manager time' - another Taggart legacy.

Fans seem to want Klopp. I'd certainly take that right now !

Might not be a good idea to start cheering when United fire the goals in. :)

If the internet is to be believed - and when isn't it! - the Chosen One banner will be taken down before the game.

Whether Moyes is there next season or not it will be interesting to see the size of the transfer kitty available this summer. A change at the helm may help attract players that would otherwise be looking for Champ League footy - I can't see top European players wanting to play for Moyes but I can see the likes of Klopp attracting them there.

Good entertaining game tonight & a great result! I thought they'd score in the last 15 or so..... am so not into this tactic of gaining the lead and then sitting back. It's cost too many games this season already & it's proper heart in mouth stuff.
De Gea was immense though..... come on you reds!

Sorry, didn't realise your type hang out in here

Oi I thought you were from Manchester ? :D

Sorry I shouldn't start these things & then go off to bed so I'll apologise now :)
I think you are honestly the only Mancunian I've known who supports United though :conf:

Pretty good game this evening, I though Olympiakos / Olympiacos (people seem to make the spelling up as they go along) were pretty good to be fair, apart from their goalkeeper. I don't think they're as bad as people have made out, although obviously there are tougher tests to come. I predicted the game would be a 3-1 win for United and they'd go out on away goals, wasn't far off, but they owed a debt to de Gea this evening.

The quarter-finals are going to be fantastic, and I think eventually you'll see the big clubs in Europe pushing for a European Super League so we can see these sort of fixtures more regularly.

I should have gone to the bookies :(

Although if I had placed a bet on United winning 3-0 it probably wouldn't have happened. Which means that by not putting on a bet I should take credit for the result.

I have to be honest and say that when I lived in Manchester I met far more United fans than City.

It's a good joke to perpetuate, but unfortunately it doesn't work out in reality. Of course, what does happen is that United draw vast support from all over the place. It'll be interesting to see how long that continues if they have a very poor spell (which I think is pretty unlikely).
