I could go on about this at great length, but I’m not going to! I have given it a lot of thought, and my views are by no means politically correct, nor accepted by the majority of psychologists / scientists.

So many normal people in the street are against our involvement, but the leaders seem impatient to start spilling blood. if only we could strap Obama, Cameron et al to the undercarriage of the first Syria-bound war-plane!

Here are the main points from what he's said so far.

• Muallem rejected "utterly and completely" claims that Syrian govenrment forces had used chemical weapons.

Q: You said you had a cordial call with the Americans recently. But today a meeting between the Americans and the Russians was cancelled. Does that mean American action is inevitable?

Muallem says, regarding the cancellation of the US/Russia meeting, the Syrians were always sceptical about this anyway. Syria thinks the US does not want a political solution, because Israel wants the continuation of violence. The cancellation of the meeting confirms this.

He says William Hague, the British foreign minister, has been giving "wrong information" to the public about Syria's use of chemical weapons.

He also says John Kerry, the US secretary of state, has no evidence that Syria sanctioned the use of the weapons. He challenges Kerry to produce the evidence justifying the claims he made yesterday.

What other objectives could the Americans have for military intervention, he asks.

If they want to undermine Syrian morale, the Americans will fail. The Syrian people and the armed forces are resolute.

An American attack would help Israel, he says.

An attack would also benefit the al-Nusra Front, the jihadi opposition group, he says.
