In fact, you could delete everything that he’s ever posted, and you would be deleting precisely zero constructive posts.

But apparently when I have stuff deleted, that’s wrong. If I ignore people being rude, that’s wrong too because it creates a bad atmosphere. We don’t condemn people for blatantly breaking the rules. We don’t interfere to express our distaste when people are abusive. And we shouldn’t ban people for pissing about and deliberately causing problems.

But we should not do all these things, and yet still expect to have a forum where people respect one another’s views. Not really very likely.

True, merc has been tolerated and yes he's contributed jack shit basically.

As I said before, I said something about the armed forces four years ago that he didn't like, that was factually correct, that wasn't even directed at him, and he's been sulking ever since. Apparently, though, we were all going to make a fresh start here and not let anything that happened on the DIF influence our behaviour! I may not have the full story as I can only go by what I see on the boards - I said at the very beginning I do not expect people to change their behaviour for me - I will however argue my point even if it is not one shared by everyone - I was going to bring up merc but the first thread that popped into my head was the woods one.
