Housing is one of the things that would be a challenge in the transition I think. Presently, millions across the world are living in conditions that are forced upon them by the current paradigm. Shanty towns, high rises etc. These people are quite legitimately perhaps not going to want to stay in those conditions whilst Bono swans around in a mansion (if he does, I really don't know) or a former lord gets to sail paper boats around his moat.
Urbanization would not be as 'necessary' without currency, many would choose to stay in big towns, big towns have lots to offer but I do foresee there being something of an exodus to rural areas. Many would say, I want to live next to a beach for example. This sort of thing would present a challenge of course. Not an insurmountable one though.

Without me going into any detail whatsoever, I agree that humanity would function better without money. We would all need to get re-programmed though for us to cope with such a change like that. And the PTB are planning to do just that. Here comes the Venus Project!

@dogsmilk.

The issue here is what can technology do to remove mundane tasks and leave mana capable of pursuing jobs that satisfy his curiosity and his soul?
Each and every one of us likes different jobs and tasks, why can we not do what we actually want to do instead of what money dictates we need to do to simply make ends meet?
Why do just one job all your life if you don't want to?
I really see zero unemployment under a resource based economy because people would love to do work, lots of work.
Again this would take some research to understand which jobs need to be given over to technology and which to humans.
Arts and crafts obviously belong with the humans but there are probably a range of jobs which can be done by both man and machine and some which are best left to machines.

The deliberate unreliablility of consumer goods you mention (planned obsolescence) is indeed something that would be removed under a resource based economy because you would want things to be efficient, long lasting and in the end recyclable and/or even modular in design.

Hmm I don't see TPTB bringing the venus project into fruition at all.
Something more aking to brave new world with a transhumanist element to it but nothing like TVP.

If you think about it, theres some social programming going on right now with the EU banking crisis.
That isn't for TVP, its for the ultimate monetary system which is 100% digital which is the entire opposite of TVP which has no money whatsoever.

And some would choose not to live in towns and that would be welcome too as some would be needed to do precisely that.

TVP isn't transhumanist, they make no mention of merging human brains with chips.
IBM do though!

100% digital money and world superstates and governance or a world with no money whatsoever, no government worth mentioning and no class system?

IBM do though!

The "computer" will make all the decisions. We will probably have implanted microchips that link direct to it. Anyway Andy you know what I think about Zeitgeist and The Venus Project, and nothing has changed with me regarding that, in fact my thoughts on it have been reinforced over the years. :emb: :D

Steevo, The Venus project is just that. The Venus Project.
My hope in starting this thread was and is to discuss a possible scenario of the abolition of currency. TVP is perhaps one way of looking at it, Fresco has at least thought about it and presented some ideas. It's just one set of ideas though.
My feeling is that for currency abolition to be possible it would need a lot more people, possibly all of us, to put forward ideas about how the transition could be made and how we could deal with things like the issues already raised by those few of us here in this thread.

Ok I;m thinking about examples of societies that have been formed upon such a basis as you propose, the two I can see immediate parallels to are New Lanarkshire, and the Digger's Communes of 1649, there will be others, I propose we explore such examples from history to see how some of the basic principles were enacted previously?

Maybe if we can find another five or six examples we might be able to draw from each to determine a feasable transitionary program?

Put it this way...is technological progression inevitable?
And if so...would you want some elite group behind the manufacture of whats going to end up in your body for profit?
I know I wouldn't...

As for 'the computer' will make 'ALL' the decisions, this is another lie that was spread by Alex Jones and co, it was only the intention that the computer would list important decisions based upon possible scenarios given resources and the people would have direct democratic vote on those possible decisions instead of elite ruling class making decisions for you.

@ Guevarista. It's certainly not a bad idea to look to the past for any ideas and pitfalls. I'd certainly be interested in any lessons to be learnt there. I really do think though that this is almost better approached from a clean slate perspective, using our own thoughts about life today and how it could be improved by the abolition of money and how that might be achieved. After all, it's us that are living through this stuff and the diggers didn't have robots and stuff at their disposal ;).

Like I already said, money is gonna be abolished by the ptb ANYWAY!
And like Fresco, the ptb have ALSO "thought alot about it and presented some ideas", which funnily enough, are very similar to Frescos and the Zeitgeisters.

lol boy you have got it wrong.
Money will NOT be abolished, if anything it will be reinforced. You won't be able to trade unless you have the mark.
Money will only be abolished in the sense of no paper money but money as a concept will still exist in the NWO.

Do you think there's no money there steevo? He had to get his receipt...
