quietgirl , natures solution for hair affected by humidity is oil.

The best type comes in a semi hard format that can be warmed between the hands to turn into liquid.

Coconut oil is great for this .. Rub it between your palms then plonk it on your hair and leave overnight and you will have great managable hair in the morning .

You only need to do it once a week to reap the benefits

They eat flies. I despise flies. Spiders are also funny sometimes

If this doesn't work then hot cotton wool , steeped in as hot a water that you can stand placed on spot.

If that doesn't draw it out , magisum sulphate on it with a covering overnight .

the earthworms are hosts to these buggers and the damp has them close to the surface and no sun to kill eggs and worms.

@ psketti - This humid damp weather is just making my skin all greasy and bringing out lots of pimples. The best thing I found for big spots is lemon myrtle essential oil, it's antibacterial. Last time I had a massive crater I just dabbed some on neat every few hours and it went away really quickly. I also use the lemon myrtle essential oil for insect bites, cleaning with and all sorts of stuff it's pretty awesome.

@ bel - weather like this isn't healthy is it. All my strawberries are getting munched by an army of slugs and there are loads of aphids this year. Mr poor little currant plants

My son missed the achool bus this morning. He has been faffing about and really dragging his feet in the morning for a while now. So, I told him a while back that if he misses the bus he will have to walk to school. It's three miles and he has to cut through the forest over the hill and then he gets to the path going into the village where his school is. He has never done it before, so I'm a bit concerned. Tbh I'm not worried about people, I'm worried that he'll just come back home in an hour or so saying that he got lost! In which case I'm calling a taxi for him. It also looks like it might piss down with rain.

I called the school and told them he would be late, that he missed his bus and I've made him walk. I also told him that I've made him walk because he'll make sure he doesn't miss the bus again! They will probably think I'm a terrible parent now

sorry haven't been around for a while, just came back from UK, visiting relatives. Can't tell you how glad I am to get back to the warm lovely med sunshine!!

I'm sorry but the weather in the UK is not fucking normal IMHO. Constant cloud cover. I'm sorry but, every time I visit the UK there is always the dreaded cloud cover. In fact, I don't even need to time my flights to know when I'll land, I just look out the window occasionally and as soon as I spot the thick cloud, I know it's time to turn off my laptop and put the seatbelt on. Now, I would like to make one point, I do recall others mentioning this over the years, but I'd love to hear what you guys think.

When I was young (1980's), I can remember playing outside with my friends, having water balloon fights, going to the park, etc etc, I remember the summers we used to have! Can you??? I'm sure most of you can. This cloud cover all year round started around 7 ish years ago, and has got progressively worse every year. Has anyone heard of Wilhelm Reich? If he could create and bust clouds in the 1950's, is it too hard to believe that the infamous hidden hands could be behind the cloud cover?

I remember how the summers used to be and you're right about it starting about 7 years ago. I can remember the last year that my son was in first school. They had a day towards the end of term to celebrate the school's 100th anniversary and it was outside. Well, my son ended up with sun stroke. A few of the kids did.

August has always been wet, but this year is the worst summer I can remember. It's non existant.

I hate the constant cloud cover and it's actually quite depressing. If we get sunny weather in the UK everyone is really jolly and it puts people in a good mood. You always the miserable feckers who moan about the heat and sun, but they're often the sorts who will moan about everything.

Yep, thinking about it, 7 years sounds just about right. Having no car, being a sun-lover and not going on holiday I take an interest in the weather.
I am going to combust if we have yet another 6 weeks of shite school holidays, I get a taste of freedom when we go out camping.
